NUMBER LOOKUP
Identify the country, carrier, and type of any phone number. Detects Nepal carriers (NTC, Ncell, SmartCell) and international scam number patterns.
Responsible Use Notice
This tool identifies the carrier, country, and type of a phone number from its structure. It does not reveal the owner's name, address, or personal information.
Use only to verify numbers that have contacted you for scam/fraud purposes. Using this tool to harass, track, or profile individuals is illegal under Nepal's Privacy Act and the Electronic Transactions Act. Misuse may result in criminal prosecution.
Nepal numbers work without country code. For international: include + and country code (e.g. +91 for India)
Common phone scam patterns in Nepal
Bank / eSewa / Khalti OTP Scam
Caller claims to be from your bank or payment app. Asks for OTP "to verify your account". Legitimate institutions NEVER ask for OTPs.
Prize / Lottery Scam
You "won" a prize and must pay a fee or share your account details to claim it. No legitimate lottery contacts you this way.
Job Offer Abroad
Caller offers a high-paying job in Gulf countries. Asks for an upfront processing fee. Common human trafficking entry point.
Impersonation (Police / Government)
Caller claims to be Nepal Police, CIB, or a government official and threatens arrest unless you pay immediately.
One-Ring Callback Scam
International number calls and hangs up after one ring. Calling back connects to a premium rate line that charges per minute.
How this tool works
Number Parsing — Uses the open-source libphonenumber-js library (the same engine Google uses) to parse and validate the number format for 240+ countries.
Nepal Carrier Lookup — Matches the 4-digit prefix against a local database of TRCN (Telecom Regulatory Commission Nepal) allocations for NTC, Ncell, SmartCell, and UTL. This is static data — it does not make any external API calls.
Scam Signal Detection — Checks for known patterns: premium-rate numbers (used in callback scams), Caribbean area codes that share the +1 code (one-ring scam), and UK 070 personal numbers. No AI — pure rule-based detection.
No External Lookup — This tool does NOT query any live database or telecom operator. It cannot tell you who owns the number. Number portability (sim-swap between carriers) means carrier data may be outdated.
